Teeth Cleaning

Teeth cleanings help prevent dental irregularities such as plaque, gingivitis and other oral diseases. Although simply brushing and flossing daily will typically prevent plaque, you're still not removing the hard to reach bacteria in your mouth/gums.  A regular teeth cleaning done by our dentist at All Aspects Dental in Oakland ,FL, will provide you with a brighter smile and improved oral health. This guide will help you understand the benefits of teeth cleanings and what to expect during the process.

Relacs IV Sedation

Many put off visiting the dentist due to apprehension and fear, neglecting important dental work in the process. With intravenous (IV) sedation dentistry, you can remain comfortable and relaxed during your dental procedure.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax.

Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one option your dentist may offer to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have. Your dentist will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.

Indications for Nitrous Oxide

  •  Mildly apprehensive patient
  •  A frightened child
  •  To reduce awareness of time and fatigue
  •  To reduce dental stress
  •  To control gagging
  •  When requested by the patient

Oral Medication

Oral sedation dentistry is a medical procedure involving the administration of oral sedative drugs, generally to facilitate a dental procedure and reduce patients' fear and anxiety related to the experience.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation dentistry is a medical procedure involving the administration of oral sedative drugs, generally to facilitate a dental procedure and reduce patients' fear and anxiety.

Depending on the total dose given, oral sedation can range from minimal to moderate. For minimal sedation, you take a pill, typically Halcion, which is a member of the same drug family as Valium. It's usually taken about an hour before the procedure. The pill will make you drowsy, although you'll still be awake. A larger dose may be given to produce moderate sedation. This is the type of anesthesia most commonly associated with sedation dentistry. Some people become groggy enough from moderate oral sedation to actually fall asleep during the procedure. They usually can be awakened with a gentle shake.

Conscious sedation can help ease your mind and get rid of anxiety so you can focus on your dental health, not the discomfort associated with it. If you're afraid, anxious, or apprehensive, let your dentist at All Aspects Dental know; he or she will choose the right form of dental sedation for you. Call us at 407-654-9208 for an appointment.
